We’re thrilled to introduce Mijo, Yachtaris’ adopted dolphin buddy! 🐬

To say that we’re bursting with pride is a serious understatement.

Mijo, our bottlenose dolphin charge, is a true Adriatic gem. He’s also a fierce racing competitor – just look at him down there riding the bow of a massive ferry boat:

“Inspired by Mijo’s legendary ferry race, we’re on a mission to help him and all his Adriatic friends thrive! Every boat booking you make through Yachtaris directly supports organizations like the Blue World Institute, working tirelessly to protect the Adriatic’s incredible marine life.”

Mijo is a resident male dolphin who calls the waters around the island of Vis his home. Our friends at the Blue World Institute first encountered him back in 2007, at the very beginning of their research in the area. Mijo, who shares the name of a Hvar Island fisherman, is known for his loyalty and strong bonds with his pod. They’re like a close-knit group of friends, always looking out for each other. Mijo and his pod are sociable and friendly – if you’re visiting Vis, you’re likely to find them frolicking in the island’s secluded bays.

Why Dolphin Conservation Matters

Like we all know, the Adriatic Sea is a treasure trove of marine biodiversity. And dolphins like Mijo play a crucial role in maintaining its delicate balance. Sadly, these magnificent creatures face numerous threats, including pollution, habitat loss, and accidental entanglement in fishing gear.

That’s where the Blue World Institute comes in.

The Blue World Institute: Guardians of the Adriatic

The Blue World Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting marine mammals in the Adriatic Sea. Their tireless efforts involve studying dolphin populations, rescuing injured animals, and raising awareness about marine conservation.

Their Adopt-a-Dolphin program allows individuals and organizations like Yachtaris to directly contribute. By symbolically adopting Mijo, we’re providing crucial support for research, conservation initiatives, and educational programs that benefit the entire Adriatic ecosystem.

Yachtaris & Mijo: A Partnership for the Healthier & More Vibrant Adriatic Sea

At Yachtaris, we believe that sustainable tourism and marine conservation go hand-in-hand. We’re passionate about sharing the beauty of the Adriatic with our guests. We’re committed to protecting its fragile environment for generations to come.

Adopting Mijo is a natural extension of our values. We want these playful dolphins to continue to grace the Adriatic with their presence, bringing joy to sailors and locals alike.

However, our commitement goes beyond this single adoption.

That’s why we pledge to support the work of Blue World Insitute and other conservations organizations for years to come.

This means that your booking with Yachtaris isn’t just a gateway to an unforgettable sailing adventure; it’s also a contribution to a vital cause. With every reservation, you’re helping to fund research, rescue efforts, and educational programs that safeguard the Adriatic’s delicate ecosystem and its iconic inhabitants, like our beloved dolphins.
