Luka Slano is a large, sheltered inlet on the mainland coast, approximately 15 miles from Dubrovnik and 30 miles from Dubrovnik’s Čilipi airport. Due to the coastal configuration, it’s one of the rare sheltered areas on the Southern Dalmatian coast able to support charter tourism. Less busy than the marinas in Dubrovnik, Slano offers easy access to the Pearl of the Adriatic with its walled Old Town and vibrant nightlife. Although more adventurous sailors can plan routes from Slano that extend all the way down to Montenegro or even Albania, there’s plenty to visit closer to port. Consider day trips to the island of Mljet, with its National Park designation and Odysseus Cave, a tour of wineries on the Pelješac Peninsula, or a fun day snorkeling in the Elaphite Islands archipelago.
