Boat pick up FAQs

  • Do I need a sailing license to book the Sailing yacht (1132 BG) (sails 2015)?

If you’re not hiring a skipper, you need a standard sailing license and a valid VHF license to book and sail the Sailing yacht (1132 BG) (sails 2015).

You can find a list of accepted boating licenses in Croatia right here.

In case you are hiring a skipper, you don’t need a valid license.

  • What’s a transit log/charter package?

Transit log, also known as comfort package/charter package (and rarely, preparation fee), is a service fee you pay at check-in. It covers the essentials such as booking logistics and paperwork, end cleaning, towels & bed linen, and more.

Transit log is an obligatory fee. It’s collected by the charter company at check-in. Most charters accept both cash and credit cards for this.

The golden rule: if something is included in this charge, you're getting it without paying extra.

Transit log is a one-and-done fixed charge no matter how many crew you bring aboard or how many days you rent.

  • What’s the refundable security deposit fee & why is it mandatory?

Think of the refundable security deposit as a fixed amount the charter company needs as a guarantee that you’ll return the Sailing yacht (1132 BG) (sails 2015) in ship-shape condition. At the check-out, they’ll inspect the boat and, if everything is in order, give you the full amount back.

For the Sailing yacht (1132 BG) (sails 2015), refundable security deposit is 1.300,00 €.

Most of our charter partners accept both credit cards and cash for the security deposit. Rarely, they might insist on cash - in most cases, information on available payment methods for the security deposit will be on your booking confirmation. If it’s not, our advice is to contact the charter directly after you receive your booking confirmation to double-check.

  • What is the tourist tax?

Tourist tax (also known as sojourn tax) is a small mandatory fee you pay for every overnight stay in the charter destination country.

Tourist tax is calculated and paid per person, per day. In Croatia, this is capped at €1.40. For example, you will pay €68.60 (7*7*1.4) for a 7-night stay for 7 crew members in Croatia.

You pay it to the charter partner at check-in. Keep in mind that a lot of our partners only take cash for this particular payment. Our advice is to calculate the amount in advance and have it ready when you pick up your boat.

  • What payment methods do charters accept for extras payable at check-in?

In almost all cases, payment methods accepted at check-in will be listed in your booking confirmation. We’ll send that to your email after your booking is complete and we check everything with the charter company.

That said, this is important information, and you’re in the right if you want to know more before booking.

While we can’t give you a 100% here, you should know that most charters accept cash, credit cards & instantaneous bank transfer payments (so long as you can show/email the bank transfer confirmation to them).

However, in our experience, some charters may insist on specific types of payment methods for some fees:

    • Tourist tax: a lot of charters will only take cash for this fee. Our advice is to calculate it in advance and make sure you have enough cash to cover it at check-in.
    • Extra services: most charters will accept credit card, cash, or bank transfer for these services. If you’re paying by bank transfer, it’s best to do it the day before so the bank can process your payment before check-in time.
    • Security deposit: most charters will accept a credit card reservation for this fee (because it’s a considerable amount of money). Some will insist on a cash deposit—if they do, we’ll do our best to note that in your booking confirmation. If the instructions in the confirmation are not clear, please reach out to us or the charter company.
    • Security deposit insurance: if you decide to pay deposit insurance offered by some charters (instead of the refundable security deposit), you’ll likely have to pay in cash. If the charter insists on cash payment in this case, we’ll do our best to note that in your booking confirmation. If the instructions in the confirmation are not clear, please reach out to us or the charter company.
